Waterperry Opera Festival is committed to supporting the future of opera by investing in the next generation of opera makers and opera goers. To do so, we have created a number of initiatives to nurture young talent and open up the world of opera and classical music to new audiences. Through these initiatives, Waterperry Opera Festival is creating an inclusive, enriching space for people of all ages to experience and participate in opera.
Our annual family shows, featuring beloved stories like Peter and the Wolf and The Snowman, have reached over 8,000 audience members at festivals such as Opera Holland Park and Lichfield Festival, fostering a love for music among children and families.
Each summer, we offer free performances and hands-on workshops to make opera more accessible, engaging over 1,300 participants since 2018.
We support early-career talent with training, mentorship, and performance opportunities, with 70 young artists, interns, and placements benefitting from these programs to date.
