Young Artist Programme 

The Waterperry Opera Festival Young Artist Programme offers singers and directors at the beginning of their careers the opportunity to develop their skills and hone their craft in a safe and exciting environment. The programme is led by Rebecca Meltzer and Ashley Beauchamp and offers mentorship and training in contemporary opera practice and collaborative theatre-making. Throughout their time on the programme our Young Artists are mentored by WOF staff and external practitioners.

Our Young Artists receive regular coachings, training opportunities, masterclasses and workshops from leading industry professionals. These include workshops in stagecraft, acting, movement, audition preparation, professional development and CV writing. They also receive professional headshots and aria recordings. Our Young Artists are also involved in the main festival productions each year, with our singers joining the chorus for our main-stage show, and our directors assisting the festival directors. We also host an annual Young Artist Gala with scenes directed and performed by our cohort.
